About Most UFC Title Fight Finishes
Championship bouts ended inside the distance - by knockout or submission
This leaderboard ranks UFC fighters by how many championship fights they finished — every title bout won by knockout, technical knockout or submission. It is a deliberately narrower question than who won the most title fights: a decision win keeps the belt just as well, but it does not answer whether a champion could end a fight against the best opposition the division could offer.
Why the numbers are small
Finishing anyone in a title fight is rare. The opponent is a champion or the top contender, the bout is scheduled for five rounds instead of three, and both camps have had a full training camp aimed at this one night. Fighters who finish two-thirds of their ordinary bouts often finish barely a third of their championship ones, so a figure that would be unremarkable on our most finishes board is exceptional here.
Reading the split
The caption under each name breaks the total into knockouts and submissions and sets it against that fighter's title wins, which is where the character of a reign shows. Alex Pereira finished all six of his title wins and every one by knockout. Demetrious Johnson's seven are mostly submissions. Jon Jones has more title wins than anyone but finished half of them. Three very different championship careers that a single number would flatten.
