📋 About Worst Finish Rate in UFC — Title Fights

This is the inverse of our highest finish rate board. It ranks fighters by the share of their wins that ended by KO/TKO or submission, sorted from lowest upward, so the names at the top are the ones who almost always need the judges. We combine every KO/TKO win with every submission win, divide by total wins, and require at least 5 wins before a fighter qualifies.

Because only wins are counted, nothing about how a fighter loses affects their position here. A fighter appears on this list purely because when they get their hand raised, it happens on the scorecards.

What a low finish rate actually tells you

It is tempting to read this board as a list of boring fighters, but that is often the wrong conclusion. Elite wrestlers who win by controlling position, disciplined counter-strikers who refuse to over-commit, and fighters who consistently face top-ranked opposition all tend to cluster here. Finishing someone in the UFC is genuinely difficult, and it gets harder the higher up the rankings you climb, so a low percentage can be a symptom of quality of opposition rather than a lack of danger.

What it does reliably tell you is style. These are fighters who accumulate advantages over 15 or 25 minutes rather than hunting for a single fight-ending moment, and whose fights are decided by output, control and ring craft. Read it alongside the most decision wins board to separate the fighters with a genuinely low rate from those who simply have a long career, and cross-reference the ELO rankings to see how many of them are winning at the very top of their division anyway.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How is finish rate calculated on this page?
We add a fighter's KO/TKO wins to their submission wins, divide by their total number of WINS, and multiply by 100. A fighter at 0 percent has never finished an opponent — every single victory came on the scorecards. The calculation is identical to our highest finish rate board, just sorted the other way.
Why is there a minimum win requirement?
We only include fighters with at least 5 wins. Without that floor a fighter who won a single decision would sit at 0 percent and top the board, which tells you nothing. Five wins is enough to show a genuine pattern of going the distance.
Does a low finish rate mean a fighter is boring?
Not necessarily, and it is worth being careful here. Some of the most technically accomplished fighters in the sport win by out-pointing elite opposition for 15 or 25 minutes. A low finish rate can equally reflect a wrestler who controls position, a counter-striker who never over-commits, or simply someone who fights ranked opponents who are very hard to put away.
Is this the same as losing by decision?
No. This page only looks at how a fighter WINS. Losses are not part of the calculation at all, so a fighter appears here because their victories go to the judges, not because they lose close fights.
