The most strikes ever landed from distance, in the clinch, and on the ground in a single UFC fight — one record book, three ranges.

The Most Strikes From Distance, Clinch, and Ground in a UFC Fight

Fighters win at different ranges, and this record book celebrates dominance in each. It breaks single-fight striking down by position — distance, clinch, and ground — and ranks the greatest performances from every range. Switch tabs to explore each one.

Max Holloway's distance-striking barrage, Josh Barnett's clinch mauling, and Punahele Soriano's ground-and-pound each define their category. Use the Distance, Clinch, and Ground tabs and the division filter to see who ruled each range.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the Distance, Clinch, and Ground tabs represent?
Each tab ranks single-fight performances by significant strikes landed from that range. Distance strikes are the kickboxing exchanges at open range, clinch strikes come from close-quarters grappling against the cage, and ground strikes are those landed while the fight is on the mat, most of them ground-and-pound from top position.
Do the three positions add up to a fighter's significant strikes?
Yes. Every significant strike is logged in exactly one position, so a fighter's distance, clinch and ground strikes for a bout add up to their significant strikes landed in that bout. The tabs split one total three ways rather than counting anything twice.
Why separate striking by position?
Position reveals how a fighter imposed their offense. A pure kickboxer racks up distance strikes, a dirty-boxing grappler dominates the clinch, and a positional wrestler piles up ground strikes. Splitting the data shows the many different ways to overwhelm an opponent.
Are ground strikes the same as control?
No. Control time measures how long a fighter held position, while ground strikes measure the actual damage landed from there. A fighter can control without striking much, or land a torrent of ground-and-pound — this list rewards the latter.
